Why do I have air bubbles in my basement ( basement flood?

Hello

I had a leak in basement which caused a puddle of water on the floor of my basement. While attending the leak I heard a small hissing sound. After about 15 minutes I got on my hands and knees in the puddle and listened carefully and it was sourced from the floor. After closer inspection there were several places on the floor (about 10-15) where tiny bubbles where coming up through the floor and bubbling through the puddle.
I do not think water was is actually draining through the floor. What is causing the air bubbles ? it only happen when we get heaviest rains. Its fine when we have normal rain its very dry basement.

Thanks

Chosen Answer:

It’s very likely comming out of the concrete itself. Concrete is very porous, this sort of thing happens. Especially if the concrete isn’t sealed, or just old. If the basement is normally dry, nothing to worry about.

Pay close attention next time you hose off your driveway, you’ll see it there as well. Assuming your driveway is concrete, that is.
