Is it possible for life to exist 200 million years ago?

The Earth is spinning at around 1041 mph and is constantly slowing down (accept for when big storms or major earthquakes hit, then it stops the earth from slowing at its normal rate. But the effect that has on the earths rotation is but only a tiny fraction).
So every year they add a tick to the clock to keep the calender balanced (its called a leap second apparently). Now if you go back 200 million years, that makes your Day’s and Night’s less than 5 minutes at a time, it makes the winds 5000 mph from the Corilois effect & causes Centrifugal force to be epic!

Now its imposable for life to remain alive for very long under they circumstances… As you would imagine. I personally believe the earth is around 6000 years old, im a christian, this man backs up my belief scientifically as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-h7F0IxdjU

But this isn’t a passive attack on science or evolution, just a curious question. I want to hear what you think? (I know their will be some smart-assed, smug people who will say, “I think your stupid” or somthing like that. So my request is, please dont be a smug, moronic asshole and stick to your thoughts on the question and not your thoughts about me)
Dj Hill, dont waste my time with stupid critisms. The question isnt abotu what i beleve, its about what science claims

By the way as a christian you know i beleve God made Dinosaurs… Also as for fossil dating i have little faith in it, some scientits took the skeleton of a mammoth, its jaw was around 44 000 years old, its spine was around 60 000 years old, its leg was around 31 000 years old and its ribs were about 48 000 years old…. So dont give me that, “We have proof of fossils billions of years old bullshit”

Chosen Answer:

Oh … please reconsider where you are getting your information.

It is simply NOT true that “every year they add a tick to the clock”. Leap seconds only got started being added in 1972, and there have been exactly 2 “leap seconds” added since the year 2000 … one in 2005 and another in 2008.

PLEASE, look this up … I provide a link to the US Navy web site, at the end, in the hopes that you trust the US Navy. But if not, then PLEASE find a source you trust.

From the US Navy site (see my sources):
“Confusion sometimes arises over the misconception that the regular insertion of leap seconds every few years indicates that the Earth should stop rotating within a few millennia. The confusion arises because some mistake leap seconds for a measure of the rate at which the Earth is slowing.”

The reason for leap seconds is not just because of the slowing of the rotation of the earth, but because the original standard definition of the second, was made before we had clocks accurate enough to measure the exact length of a mean solar day. So in 1956 they *redefined* the second in terms of the orbit around the *sun*, rather than in a revolution of the *earth*. And then in 1967 it was redefined again even more precisely in terms of vibrations of a caesium atom. Because of this, there is an accumulated error between the two systems, that they have been trying to correct one second at a time over the last 38 years (since 1972).

Now, the rotation of the earth is indeed slowing down … but the day is getting shorter at a rate of only 1.4 thousandths of a second every century. (14 seconds every million years.)

So that would predict that 200 million years ago, the length of a day was about 23.2 hours …. NOT 5 minutes!

The guy on that videotape is the infamous Dr. Kent Hovind, who is famous for the amazingly BAD science information he peddles on well-meaning Christians. He is currently serving jail time for tax fraud … which is not relevant to his science, but is consistent with the fact that he has been shown many times to be a pathologically *dishonest* man.

Look him up!

>”I personally believe the earth is around 6000 years old, im a christian”

I’m a Christian too … but that does not require us, as Christians, to believe something that is scientifically absurd.

Belief in God, yes. Belief in Jesus, yes. Belief in miracles, yes.

But belief in the idea that the earth is 6,000 years old is scientifically equivalent to believing that the distance from the earth to the sun is 6 miles!

Anybody who tells you that you, as a Christian, have to believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old, are effectively telling you to spend the rest of your life in scientific ignorance believing a lie.

They are TWISTING the enlightening power of Christianity … and these people (and they are *PEOPLE*, no matter how hard they thump the Bible) are NOT leading you into enlightenment.

>”Also as for fossil dating i have little faith in it, some scientits took the skeleton of a mammoth, its jaw was around 44 000 years old, its spine was around 60 000 years old, its leg was around 31 000 years old and its ribs were about 48 000 years old.”

Please provide your SOURCE?!!!

If you check the source that gave you that information, I absolutely GUARANTEE it is not a *scientific* source … but the same kind of PEOPLE (do I need to point that out again that they are PEOPLE) who are telling you that the earth is 6,000 years old.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR SOURCES!

Believe it or not, not everybody with a Bible in their hands is telling you the Truth! Some of them (like Kent Hovind) are EASILY shown to be pathological liars.

You need to research this yourself … or you are in for a lifetime of being manipulated.
