Could an actual socialist society work in The United States?

If you believe so, please tell me how.

Chosen Answer:

It can work on a very small scale with a tiny population in isolated areas with and agrarian or hunter gatherer source of sustenance. But as trade industry and population grows a simple share and share alike system becomes impossible. You need a medium of exchange to maintain a sense of value in a complex system. And since not everyone’s efforts are equal to everyone else, economic disparity will arise. Trying to fight that breaks down the system. America is far too advanced and interconnected for socialism to work. But with 20 people stranded on a desert island a socialist system might be the best way to ensure the survival of everyone. But beyond a couple hundred people it quickly proves unworkable.
